Convenience counts when it comes to child care and preschool! Having a high quality program nearby is every parent’s dream.

Through research with Newport News Public Schools, Preschool Partners found that several areas of the city lack neighborhood preschools. Children from those neighborhoods are more likely to enter kindergarten without the basic social skills and a good foundation for the formal learning expected in today’s public schools.

As a prototype program, Preschool Partners assisted the Hidenwood Presbyterian Preschool with the opening of a second location on Dresden Drive in Newport News.

Quality Counts! At its first location on Hiden Blvd., Hidenwood Preschool serves more than 150 children ages 2-5, is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and has been in operation for 49 years.

Hidenwood's second site, Dresden Drive Preschool is located in the Ivy Farms Church of the Brethren, serves 18 children, ages 3-5, and opened in the fall of 2005.
