Searching for child care programs can be demanding and is one of the most important decisions a family can make. The Resource and Referral Program helps take the guesswork out of this process and eases the burden of sifting through an overwhelming amount of information.
How Are Searches conducted?
- The best search results can be found when families start with a call to Preschool Partners Child Care Specialists directly at 757-240-2731. Families can also go to the Preschool Partners’ website and click on Search For Child Care, register, and enter search criteria such as ages of children needing care, hours of care needed, preferred zip code of provider, etc.
- Families can phone or walk into the office of Preschool Partners and a Child Care Specialist will assist them with their search.
How Can Resource and Referral Assist?
- The R&R Program maintains a data base of the programs of state regulated providers of preschools, child care centers, and family child care homes.
How does the R&R Program work?
- The R&R Program is a free service which connects families to providers whose program offerings may best fit the individual needs of their children.
Who Does The Resource and Referral Program Serve?
- The R&R Program serves all families and individuals seeking child care or preschool in Newport News and Hampton.
What are the Affiliations of the Resource and Referral Program?
The R&R Program lists only those providers of care who are regulated by the Virginia Department of Social Services as Licensed, Voluntary Registered, Certified Preschools, or Religiously Exempt Centers.
- Preschool Partners is a collaborative member of the Virginia Child Care Resource and Referral Network (VACCRRN) and a member of the National Child Care Resource and Referral Association (NACCRRA), state and national organizations committed to providing comprehensive child care program data and referrals to families.
What Is the Parents’ Responsibility?
- Preschool Partners is not regulatory and does not endorse or recommend any program. It is the responsibility of the parents to ensure that the caregiver offers a quality program.
- Parents can visit Virginia Department of Social Services if they have any questions or concerns about a child care provider's regulatory status. Religiously Exempt child care centers and Voluntary Registered family child care homes are listed as Unlicenced care even though these are regulated programs; and Licensed family child care homes and centers are listed under Licensed care.
